I’m delighted to be a supporter of Floral Angels (www.floralangels.com). Launched by three inspirational women Frances, Julie and Amanda in 2013, this 100% volunteer run, non-profit charity recycles flowers from events and florists and deliver to hospices, palliative care homes, Maggie’s Cancer Centre, Hestia Women’s Shelters, Care Homes, Magic Me’s Cocktails for the Elderly and to many other deserving beneficiaries within the SW London community.
When I stumbled across their website their cause really resonated with me on a number of levels. I genuinely believe in the healing power of giving and receiving flowers. For someone who is struggling or alone, the reminder that the world can be so simple and beautiful and that someone cares enough to think of you, I believe provides the type of encouragement and reassurance that can aid well-being and brighten even the darkest day. My mum has been a hospice councillor for over 15years and she has taught me to understand the impact these seemingly small and kind acts are. I also abhor waste! Perhaps this goes back to my grandparents where literally nothing was wasted in the kitchen but I can’t bear it! Even now if I have a couple of stems left I have to make use, press them for my little girl’s flower book, dry them or tie them onto a gift tag for one of my customers.
For all of the above reasons I will not only be recycling all the flowers I can and encouraging my brides to do the same, but I’ll be donated £1 from every Coralili Club posy (link to webpage section) sold to help support their costs for transportation, premises and florist sundries.
